Sein künstlerisches Werk umfasst konzeptionelle Wanderungen in allen Teilen der Welt, die er fotografisch und textlich dokumentiert. Im Laufe solcher Wanderungen schafft er temporäre Stein- oder Holzskulpturen, die häufig nach der fotografischen Dokumentation wieder entfernt oder der natürlichen Verwitterung überlassen werden.

Richard Long ist ein britischer Land-Art-Künstler. Long studierte von 1962 bis 1965 am West England College of Art in Bristol und von 1966 bis 1968 an der St. Martin's School of Art in London. 1988 wurde er mit dem Kunstpreis Aachen und 1989 mit dem Turner Preis ausgezeichnet. Long lebt und arbeitet in Bristol.

Richard Long is an artist of the Land Art movement. Long studied at the West England College of Art in Bristol from 1962 to 1965 and at St. Martin's School of Art in London from 1966 to 1968. In 1988 he was awarded the Aachen Art Prize and in 1989 the Turner Prize. His artistic work includes conceptual wanderings throughout all parts of the world, in which he documents these travels photographically and textually. Over the course of said wanderings, he would create temporary stone or wood sculptures, which were often removed or left to weather naturally after photographic documentation. Long lives and works in Bristol.
