Sein künstlerisches Schaffen umfasst südliche Landschaften, Genreszenen, Figurenbilder und ab 1919 dekorative Kompositionen beeinflusst von Symbolismus, Japonismus und Jugendstil.

Werner Koch (1884, Aesch – 1946, Basel) absolvierte von 1903 bis 1906 eine Lehre als Glasmaler bei Emil Schäfer und studierte an der Gewerbeschule in Basel. Von 1906 bis 1912 bildete sich Koch in München weiter, bevor er 1918 seine Tätigkeit als Lehrer an der Basler Gewerbeschule aufnahm.



Werner Koch (1884, Aesch – 1946, Basel) completed an apprenticeship as a glass painter with Emil Schäfer during the years 1903 to 1906 and studied at the Gewerbeschule in Basel. From 1906 to 1912, Koch proceeded with his studies in Munich before taking up a teaching position at the Basel Gewerbeschule in 1918. His artistic work includes southern landscapes, genre scenes, figure paintings, and following 1919, decorative compositions influenced by Symbolism, Japonism and Art Nouveau.
