À propos de l'œuvre

Vikings were great hunters with bows. For this picture, I used several tools. The background was created with a crow quill, which produces very fine and detailed lines. This tool allowed me to achieve a sense of distance, something I really love in this piece. The figures in the middle ground were drawn with a calligraphy nib, number B6, and for the shadows within the figures, I used brush strokes.
For the soil or foreground, I used a tool commonly employed by graffiti artists, consisting of a large flat chisel point, which is used for signatures or very bold outlines. You can vary the line thickness depending on the pressure you apply. I pressed it very lightly on the surface of the paper to achieve the effect you see, but I also sketched some leaves in the soil, which you can find if you look closely.
It's also important to consider the demands of comic book art. When a mistake is made, it’s common to cover it with white opaque paint and then redraw over it. Comic book art is designed for printing, and it wasn’t until the 1970s that comic book pages began to be regarded as real art pieces, prompting people to start collecting them. Before that time, many pieces were simply thrown away.
In this piece, I also splattered some white paint with a toothbrush to create an interesting effect in the atmosphere of the scene, which depicts a cold morning in the woods with fog surrounding it. To convey a sense of movement, I drew an arrow going from left to right, mimicking the way we read words.
