The Silver-Cheeked Hornbill is native to Africa. This omnivorous bird can measure up to eighty centimetres and its beak is crowned with a ‘horn’. It stays high in the lush green canopies but its habitat is threatened by deforestation and other factors, which impact habitat loss. It took me some time to decide which tree it should be painted in, until I thought of my neighbor’s Moringa tree where other birds eat the leaves to help them digest their meals!
