About the artwork
Part of the serie The Rebirth of The Goddess Within, this painting was born in Guatemala after 2 months exploring culture, landscapes, meeting people and diving into the world of my own emotions. Over the past 2 years, I have developped an intimate relationship with the plant of cacao, which I got to deepen during this stay, through countless walks in cacao plantations and prayer ceremonies around the fire.
On my forst day at the art residency, I went to town to buy a canvas. I was guided to a fabric shop, no canvas but my eyes caught this rough fabric and I had no option than to try it. One word kept coming to my mind: RAW. On this fabric, I had no choice than to let go, let go of control, let go of the final outcome. Letting go became the theme as with curiosity I watched some old beliefs dissolve into the nothing. Coming back to the heart where only purity live.
