How frequently do we beseech God or myriad divinities, or the myriad heights, for aid? Most often, it is in the face of necessity, while gratitude remains an infrequent companion. Strange, indeed. The painting unequivocally portrays the fervor of our supplications and the melancholy that befalls them. We have forsaken the radiance, the thankfulness, the act of pardoning ourselves for transgressions and wrongdoing. Our pilgrimage to the holy is driven solely by desires of acquisition, devoid of gratitude for what we already possess and for what was bestowed upon us in times of yore. Perhaps, on occasion, it behooves us to turn towards the sanctuary of our own souls and beseech ourselves?
